Najwa Shihab - The Queen of Journalist (Part II)




The name of woman this one known to the public as reporter and presenter talkshow at Mata Najwa on Metro TV. She was known as the Najwa Shihab who daily called Nana. She was born in Makassar on June 16 september 1977. She was the second daugther of a Figure in Indonesia called Prof. Dr. Quraish Shihab who was a muslim scholars in Indonesia who is also the Minister of Religion era Development Cabinet VII.
Was born from religious family, as a kid Nana already provided education fervent religion. When Nana was kid has been noted to the kindergarten of qur’an. Besides about religion, the education is most important for her family, at senior high school Najwa Shihab was elected students who go to America during of one year in a program called AFS (America Field Service) which is managed by Yayasan AFS for intercultural programs. Then when entering college, Nana attended the University of Indonesia majoring in Legal Studies and became the alumni in 2000. Although graduated as a Bachelor of Law, Najwa Shihab prefer to plunge in the world of journalism than the a lawyer. Not only about education, freedom was also given by the Father to marry and determine her husband, Nana was married at the age of 20 years with Ibrahim Assegaf and now has a son named Izzat.

Her family

Nana very admire his father, because her opinion her father is very reasonable be restrained, for Nana her father is the relaxed father. From her father, Nana learning about perseverance and discipline. Nana very grateful to perseverance and discipline inherited her father, now Nana become a great journalist. 

Career of Najwa Shihab
Nana started her career as a journalist on RCTI, when it was Nana was still internship as a reporter. When the same time, Andy F. Noya also entrusted Surya Paloh owner of Metro TV to "internship" in RCTI as the chief editor. And then Nana requested to submit an application to Metro TV and accepted as the first reporter. Nana became an anchor on several programs in Metro TV include a Metro prime time news Berita Hari Ini and Today's Dialogue talk show.


As a reporter, Nana proclaiming the be emotionally of how powerful the tsunami in Aceh in 2004 and called that the government is less prepared to deal with the disaster and who served Welfare Minister when the tsunami happened was her uncle namely Alwi Shihab. Therefore, based on communication expert from UI namely Effendi Ghazali election the phenomenon shihab vs shihab. Ten year as a reporter on Metro TV, finnaly Nana trusted to bring her program. Mata Najwa is the name of a talk show program that since 2009, this program managed and presented by alumnus Bachelor of Laws from the University of Indonesia.

The awards that achieved by Najwa Shihab


In 2006, she was received the title as the Best Journalist Metro TV and then made it into the nomination The Best News Reader Panasonic Awards. In the same year, along with several of journalists from many countries, Nana was elected as one of the participants Senior Journalist Seminar which was held in several cities in the US, and also she was being a speaker in a Convention Asian American Journalist Association. The awards as a journalist profesional didn’t just in the national level but also at the level of interasional, that she managed to enter the Asian Television Award nomination in the category Best Current Affairs / Talk Show Presenter. Najwa Shihab knowledge continue to deepen by taking media concentration of law at the Melbourne Law School in Australia where she won full scholarship for Australian Leadership Awards. Najwa shihab also won The Award Asian Television Awards (ATA) 2011, the second winner or highly commended as in the current affairs Best Presenter in Mata Najwa on Metro TV. Earlier in 2009 also became the second winner and in 2007 became the third winner. And at 2015, Nana was awarded as a talkshow presenter of news and information in the event Grab Panasonic Gobel Awards. Although a graduate of Legal Sciences, Najwa Shihab more attracted to the world of Journalism.
